Short answer: sell on Amazon first if you have a brand with higher-priced or premium products. Choose Flipkart first if you sell fashion, electronics or value-for-money products and want to ride big sale events. Choose Meesho first if your products are low-priced and aimed at price-sensitive shoppers in smaller cities, because Meesho charges sellers no commission. Most growing brands eventually sell on all three.
Every week we speak to sellers who launched on the wrong marketplace first and spent months fighting the platform instead of growing. The right first marketplace depends on three things: your price point, your category, and how much time you can invest in operations and ads.

When Amazon Should Be Your First Marketplace
Amazon rewards brands. If you own a trademark, you can enrol in Amazon Brand Registry and unlock A+ Content, a Brand Store, Sponsored Brands ads and better protection against hijackers. Amazon buyers are willing to pay more for trusted products with strong reviews and fast delivery.
Pick Amazon first if:
- Your average selling price is mid to premium.
- You have a registered or applied-for trademark.
- You can invest in professional images, A+ Content and Amazon PPC from day one.
- Your category relies on reviews and trust, such as health, beauty, kitchen, baby and electronics accessories.

When Flipkart Should Be Your First Marketplace
Flipkart has deep reach across India and is especially strong in fashion, mobile accessories, electronics and home products. Its big sale events can multiply sales in a few days for sellers who plan stock and ads in advance.
Pick Flipkart first if:
- You sell fashion, footwear, electronics or home products at budget to mid prices.
- You want to plan around major sale events.
- You can maintain strong listing quality and fast dispatch to protect your seller rating.
We explain the setup in our Flipkart seller registration guide. In one Flipkart account we manage, monthly gross sales grew from ₹19.93 lakh to ₹40.83 lakh through listing, pricing and ads improvements.
When Meesho Should Be Your First Marketplace
Meesho is built for value. It charges sellers no commission, which makes it attractive for low-priced products where every rupee of margin matters. Its buyers are highly price-sensitive and many are in smaller towns.
Pick Meesho first if:
- Your products sell well at low price points, such as fashion basics, home décor, kitchen tools and accessories.
- You can manage high order volumes with lean packaging costs.
- You have a plan to control returns, which can erase thin margins.
Meesho is less suited to premium brands, because shoppers compare mainly on price and there are fewer tools to tell a brand story.
A Simple Decision Framework
- Check your price point. Premium points to Amazon, budget to mid points to Flipkart, low-price value points to Meesho.
- Check your category strength. See who ranks on page one for your main keywords on each platform and what they charge.
- Calculate unit economics. Include commission, shipping, returns and ad spend for each platform. If the numbers do not work, change the pack size or price before you launch.
- Start with one, master it, then expand. Reuse your images and content, but adapt titles and pricing to each audience.
Can You Sell on All Three at Once?
You can, but most small teams struggle to manage three dashboards, three ad accounts and three sets of returns well from day one. A better approach is to launch on one platform, reach steady profitability, then add the next. If you want to move faster, an experienced marketplace management team can run all three in parallel.
